Weekly Round-Up: 13th - 19th November
So there were a few events over the weekend to pick up on.
Castle Combe chilly 10k and duathlon
There were a good number of KIT runners in the 10k, either going for fast times or merely being fair-weather cyclists. The early morning red sunrise and clear blue windless day weren’t just good omens, these were perfect conditions! There were PBs all-round. Becky Hayward romped home as 3rd female and 33rd overall in a sub-40 time that will only add to rumours of a step up to standard distance next season. Along with a prize sports bra, Becky also extends her lead as the record number of KIT profile picture appearances.
Chris Norris was too polite once again and allowed another couple of girls to cross the line before him, plodding over the line in a 41-min 56th overall. Neil “I’ve got a cold” Parker joined the party with a 2-min pb, 47:09.
Then the duathlon started.
Most families enjoy a quiet weekend away to Cornwall or a week in benidorm. But the Kerfoots aren’t most families. I can’t quite imagine what a holiday might look like, but it might be a Kerfoot sr vs Kerfoot jr duathlon-off. And the onlookers witnessed the juniors walk away with the Kerfoot cup. Well done Steven and Tom taking 2nd place in the team event too in 48:37.
In other news, Kelly Smith debuted her new pink TT bike in a bid to remain the most mentioned KIT member. She had a cracking result, having fobbed the kids off on Dave. She also did very well in the race, with a time of 1h05.
Matt Brooke, Claire Graham and Russell Basey were other KIT members making great showings. Matt impressively was the top solo KIT competitor, finishing in 52:35 while Russell picked up the coveted 255th position in 1h10. Claire finished 3rd in her category in 1h01.
And has anyone worked out why you’ve never seen James Eastwood in the pool on a Thursday night. Well clearly he hates it, as he finished his duathlon in (TBC)
